Today we are releasing v0.6.2 of the Mocktastic desktop app. If you're wondering where v0.6.0 and v0.6.1 are, those versions are going to remain unreleased, since we identified a few important bugs and fixed them after the build, and before the release.
v0.6.2 comes with an exciting, much requested feature. All response bodies and header values can now be templated using Handlebars templates. There are a wide range of Handlebars helpers that Mocktastic makes available to aid you with your templating. These helpers help you do a variety of tasks from generating dummy data of different kinds, to randomly picking items from an array and returning them.
In addition to templating, this release comes with a variety of bugfixes for UX bugs introduced in the 0.5.1 release. We would like to apologize for the hasty release, which resulted in us not catching these bugs, and we'll do our best to ensure that this doesn't happen again. We would also like to thank our customers for putting up with the 0.5.1 release, until we were able to make the 0.6.2 release available.
An Important Note on Autoupdating to v0.6.2:
In order to support a more efficient auto-update, we have made some breaking changes to our auto-updater. As a side effect of this, if you are already using a version of the Mocktastic desktop app prior to v0.6.2, then you will not be auto-updated to v0.6.2.
You will have to manually download and install the latest version of Mocktastic to be updated to v0.6.2. Please do not uninstall the existing version of Mocktastic before installing v0.6.2. Any data you might have in Mocktastic (your already mocked servers, your account information, etc.) will be preserved, and will not be lost.
Unfortunately, we do not currently have a mechanism for notifying users of the desktop app who have not registered for a Mocktastic account, about this breaking change, so we would appreciate it if you could spread the word amongst Mocktastic users you may know.
Thank you for your continued patronage. And stay tuned for the launch of our documentation site (Edit: Now launched!).
